Once you have purchased your exercise mat, all that is needed to complete your tools for fitness will be resistance bands. With the two purchases almost every exercise imaginable can be completed. There is no need to spend hundreds of dollars on equipment that is bulky, heavy and may not be used.
We have found that with a few exercise bands we can do our floor work on the exercise mat as well as use the mat as our base for standing exercises. Additionally, there is much less stress on the body or opportunity to damage muscles using the resistance bands in coordination with the exercise mat.
For those of us who prefer to workout in small groups of friends, the lightness of a portable mat and a few variations of strength with our resistance band enables us to easily go anywhere to exercise. As spring is now upon us, many of us find that we enjoy working out in the park. Several of us get together every morning to spread our mats, stretch our bands and get a complete workout.
There is far less opportunity for injury with the resistance bands as compared to free weights. Additionally, using bands and mats allows two people to work together, one creating resistance then the other.
